Emceed by CTV Montreal’s Mutsumi Takahashi, the QCGN’s 2017 Community Award ceremony took place on October 26 at the prestigious Saint-James Club. Throughout the ceremony, guests paid tribute to the late Gretta Chambers for her exceptional work in building bridges between Quebec’s two solitudes. We congratulate the 2017 winners of the Goldbloom Award Clifford Lincoln, James Carter, Earl de la Peralle and Sid Stevens, as well as the winner of our Young Quebecers Leading the Way Award, Claudia Di Iorio.
Clifford Lincoln
“Politics is the art of the possible, but for people of principle it can become the art of the impossible.”
James Carter
“The reward is seeing groups benefit from that achievement, working with English-speaking communities to strengthen their capacity to gain better access to services in English.”
Sid Stevens and Earl De La Perralle
“Pierre Trudeau used to drop by and buy a Christmas tree from us, when our offices were at Park and Mount Royal. He also used to give us a $25 cheque. That was a lot of money back then.”
Claudia Di Iorio
“If I could use what happened to me in a good way, if I use it so that it brings good not only to me but to others, that would be a double success. I took this as a message. It happened to me for a reason.”
