For the first time in seven years, Quebecers will have the chance Sunday, Nov. 2, to vote in school board elections. But if they don’t show up at the polls in great enough numbers, this could be their last.
The Quebec government has indicated the turnout in these elections will be a litmus test of how strongly people care about school boards. If voters don’t bother to cast ballots, this could result in their merger or even abolition, Education Minister Yves Bolduc has suggested.
