Anglophone group wants English in National Assembly

The Quebec Community Groups Network would like to see the English-speaking community formally represented in the provincial government.

The QCGN, which is comprised of 41 organizations involved in Quebec’s English-speaking community, came to the consensus on Saturday at its annual meeting in Montreal. While no specific recommendations as to what the representation should look like were made, the idea was born out of a belief that the minority anglophone community is in some ways in decline, and should be supported by the francophone majority.

“A presence in the provincial government could propose policies and programs that support the vitality of Quebec’s English-speaking minority,” said QCGN director-general Sylvia Martin-Laforge in a press release.
