Elections Quebec campaign urges young anglos to vote

Elections Quebec has partnered with Quebec Community Groups Network to encourage young anglophones to vote.

MONTREAL – Elections Quebec is ramping up its campaign to get young Quebecers to the polls on Sept. 4.
Following efforts by Apathy is Boring and L’Institut du Nouveau Monde to politicize the province’s youth, Elections Quebec has partnered with Quebec Community Groups Network to encourage young anglophones to vote.

The QCGN launched www.voteitup.ca on Thursday in hopes of boosting the meager participation rate of youth voters in provincial elections, which has fallen by about 60 per cent in the past 40 years. During the 2008 campaign, only about one in three voters between 18 and 24 cast a ballot.
