English-speaking community must have a say
The Pontiac Journal, Marion Standish
The Quebec Community Groups Network (QCGN) believes the recent Supreme Court ruling on Bill 104 is a fair decision for the province of Quebec. This gives the provincial government a second chance to draft legislature that will work with all stakeholders including the English-speaking community. A reasonable compromise between the goals of protecting the French language and preserving the vitality of English schools should be achievable. We ask that the QCGN be included in the process.
The health of our schools and school boards has a profound impact on English-speaking Quebec. It has a direct impact on the economic vitality of the province. English schools must be guaranteed the resources they need to survive even when their numbers begin to dwindle.
