Hosted by Bernard St-Laurent of CBC Quebec, the inaugural Goldbloom Awards ceremony was held in Gatineau during the kickoff of celebrations for the QCGN’s 15th anniversary in 2009. The QCGN would like to congratulate the first ever laureates of the award: Caspar Bloom, Marjorie Goodfellow and Jack Jedwab. We also thank the generous sponsors and advertisers who helped make our 15th anniversary festivities and first edition of the Goldbloom Awards a success.
Casper Bloom
With the amount of work Casper Bloom had done and continues to accomplish in his wide-ranging legal career, it is almost ironic that he was relaxing at his cottage in the Lauren- tians when he got the news he’d be receiving a Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Community Service Award. Read more
Marjorie Goodfellow
Marjorie Goodfellow knows what her community needs. Ask anyone in the Eastern Townships and they’ll share at least one story of something this indefatigable woman has done for them. The list of local organizations with which Goodfellow has and continues to participate in is staggering – particularly for someone meant to be enjoying the rest and relaxation that should come with retirement. Jack Jedwab
The current executive director at the Association for Canadian Studies continues to keep Canadians in touch with the changing social and demographic profile of Quebec, which Jedwab admits has been no easy task. “It’s an area where the interest has been low, to be honest,” he said. “Not enough attention has been paid to the contribution of Quebec’s English-speakers.” Read more
